Paraguay once again set a new record in the export of beef during the first half of this year with 176,999,515 kilos sent abroad, which represented, at its nominal value, foreign currency for US $ 808,548,268.46, according to disclosed data. by the National Service of Quality and Animal Health (Senacsa).

“Since the beginning of this year we have had a very positive behavior in relation to the movement in the livestock sector and not only in beef. We see growth in practically all exports, ”said José Carlos Martin, head of Senacsa.

This volume represents an increase of 46.3% compared to the 120,908 tons shipped in the same period last year. It injected US $ 808.5 million, showing a growth of 64.2% in relation to the US $ 492.1 million generated in the aforementioned period.

The average export price was 4,570 US $ / Ton, corresponding to an improvement of 12.2% in relation to 2020, which was 4,070 US $ / Ton, according to Senacsa data.

“If we compare 2019 with 2021 in the entire livestock chain, we have a 65% increase in exports, about US $ 100 million. It should be noted that the private sector does a great job, as well as the institutions that endorse the products, ”said Martin.

The positive numbers are explained by a great dynamism in the main meat buyers, especially Chile, Russia and Taiwan, from which there is strong demand and an improvement in prices, according to the representative.

“There is a lot of work, we have finished the vaccinations in this first semester when before that did not happen. In this second stage of the year, we will continue to strengthen the export of other species and programs that have yet to be promoted. Chile is once again our main market, it is a very serious country that respects contracts. It offers a lot of guarantee for our products, logistically it is comfortable for us, compared to other places where we send the meat ”, he said.
The report of the official veterinary service mentions that between January and June of this year the main export markets for beef were: Chile with more than 69,651,141 kilos, Russia with 44,730,571 kilos, Brazil with 15,718,058 kilos, Taiwan with 15,916,050 kilos, Israel with 10,357,573 kilos and Uruguay with 3,634,591 kilos.
